I hate this game...

The TL got backed into tonight. I pulled into a parking lot behind a pickup truck, and somebody pulled in behind me. The truck is driving slow, scanning the lot for spots. Suddenly he stops, throws it in reverse and decides he wants to go down the aisle to the right he just passed. Problem is I'm right behind him. His bed was so full of shit he couldn't see out the back glass. He only had one reverse light, and my wife noticed before I did. I couldn't throw it in reverse because of the car behind me.

I laid on the horn, and watched him slowly back into me. It was like the scene from Austin Powers when he runs over the guy on the steamroller.

Crunch. Bent my plate and messed up the bracket. There's some damage to the bumper but its behind the plate. I probably won't bother doing anything about it. The guy was nice about it and apologetic and gave me his info. Maybe he'll throw $40 my way so I can at least get a new bracket. I'll check it out further tomorrow in the daylight.

It just pisses me off because I take so much pride in keeping my cars nice. I spent 12 hours this past Labor Day weekend detailing it. I park far away from everybody else. Even my pos Saturn and my lowly Honda Civic were kept in top notch condition. I should have known better, I average two accidents per car. None of them have ever been my fault.

Could have been worse I suppose.

I'm just not going to drive my MR2 anymore

Definitely could of been worse. I watched someone back into my car at autozone the other day (as i was leaving the entrance to the store). I parked in the 2nd row of spaces because i know most people will park as close to the store as possible. 12 extra feet of walking is worth no door ding. He was parked in the first row, and backed out of his space right into my car. Luckily there was no damage.

That sucks bud. I live in RI but do a ton of driving in MA and I've seen that kind of stuff happen a couple times. Hopefully it's not too bad and it can be fixed cheaply.

ugh we go out of our way to keep our cars in nice shape and they still get messed up. I can see why backup cams are going to be mandatory on all new 2015 models.

yeah I will. Most of the damage is behind the front plate. Hammered the plate out already, good as new. There some paint cracks but nothing serious. I don't think it pushed the whole cover back, but I'm going to look it over when the sun comes up tomorrow

Reminds me of earlier this week. I've been driving my Z all week and my boss almost backed into it the other day. I saw it going down and sprinted outside to direct him into a parking spot. He backed in OK with my help but then swung his door open into my Z. I got new doors on my car less than a month ago. They were pristine until my dumbass boss gave me a door ding. Needless to say I was a little bit pissed off. The only reason I didn't totally go off on him is because I need my job.

I had a big rig do that to the 911 in stop and go traffic. Rolled backwards for a good 20 feet when starting and all I could do was watch and lay on the horn.
